When the room and its contents are heated up to the ignition temperature but
there is an unsufficiency of air or oxygen, there will be no flashover. The third
side of the simplistic triangle, oxygen, is lacking and there can be no immediate
fire. This роsеs a vеrу dangerous situation to the firefighter. If he forces entry to
the seat of the fire generating the smoke and heat, he will also introduce a source
of oxygen.
The oxygen-starved fire will reach out towards the oxygen source. The flammable
vapours being released at the ignition temperature will now flash over into fire.
The fire-fighter may be engulfed in flames or actually blown up of the burning
room.
