British Cuisine

Some people criticize English food. They say it's unimaginable, boring, tasteless, it's chips with everything and totally overcooked vegetables. The basic ingredients, when fresh, are so full of flavour that British haven't had to invent sauces to disguise their natural taste. What can compare with fresh pees or new potatoes just boiled and served with butter? Why drown spring lamb in wine or cream and spices, when with just one or two herbs it is absolutely delicious?

If you ask foreigners to name some typically English dishes, they will probably say "Fish and chips" then stop. It is disappointing, but true that, there is no tradition in England of eating in restaurants, because the food doesn't lend itself to such preparation. English cooking is found at home. So it is difficult to a good English restaurant with a reasonable prices.

In most cities in Britain you'll find Indian, Chinese, French and Italian restaurants. In London you'll also find Indonesian, Mexican, Greek... Cynics will say that this is because English have no "cuisine" themselves, but this is not quite the true.

Auditing is a process in which an independent accountant-auditor examines a firm's accounting records and financial statements and offers an opinion on their accuracy and reliability. There are different types of audits, for example, financial statements audits, income tax audits, "value for money" audits, environmental audits, administrative audits, financial management audits, etc.
The accountancy profession has built up a significant amount of expertise in performing financial statements audits. Accounts audits were established as an instrument to protect third parties, the users of accounts, since the auditor's opinion helps establish credibility of financial statements. Special bodies of users, such as supervisory boards, employee representatives, government agencies may sometimes need an in-depth audit report, which is usually confidential.
It should be stressed that auditors do not monitor, they offer an opinion, and the audit process and audit procedures are complicated and manifold. The auditor's opinion is gradually being built up from a mass of detailed work to the final judgment through the planning and testing stages. The auditor normally starts with a study of the business environment the audited company is working in and performs a preliminary analytical review.
Then he should direct his attention to the financial statements. Interestingly enough, however, the auditor's attention is not directed towards the financial statements' elements as such, but towards the correctness of various assumptions made by the management for their preparation. For instance, the auditor needs to know if figures are complete and accurate and reflect what they should reflect, if income

Nearly 265 million people live in the USA and speak English. Although approximately one out of eight people in the US speaks a language other than English at home, there are more native speakers of English there than in any other country. American English is very flexible and has absorbed many words from the languages of immigrants. Words like liaison and rendezvous (from French), and rodeo and tornado (from Spanish) came into the language because France and Spain once controlled parts of North America. Dutch and German settlers gave words such as waffle and cookies, and hamburger and noodles to American English. The first English speakers to arrive met Native Americans who spoke many different languages. To trade with them, the Europeans learned words from the local languages, and some of these words became part of American English. Native Americans also worked as guides, leading the European traders and trappers around the country. The Europeans learned the Native American names for the places they were passing through. Over half the states now have Native American names.

:hi: Пожалуйста, помогите составить 20 любых вопросов к тексту!))) Заранее большое спасибо за помощь.
Well, they work of course, bu they also find time for other things. A recent report reveals that UK office workers spend about an hour and a half a day on personal business. They spend 54 minutes gossiping, 16 minutes flirting, 14 minutes surfing the Net, 9 minutes emailing friends and family, and 3 minutes shopping online.

Surfing the Net in office time for personal reasons is common throughout Europe. Nearly half of workers in Italy, the UK, and Germany confess to visiting sites for holidays and finance when they should be working. In Italy, 4 out f 10 workers flirt the workplace and 1 out of 3 employees sends and receives text messages on thier mobile during thier working day.

Unsurprisingly, employers are not happy with this "absenteeism in the office". Many companies use filters to prevent surfing, and even urn off coffee machines to prevent gossip. In Milan, a worker who regularly surfed unsuitable sites was suspended for ten days.

But is the best solution to stop workers socializing and surfering the Net? After all, you don't stop thinking about work when you go home, and your private life doesn't stop when you go to work. A study of the best employers in the UK says that laughing with colleagues, socializing, and having fun creates a workplace where staff work the hardest! One successful company has a room with perfumed oils and music, where staff can relax. Anouther offers games rooms and satellite TV. It seems that only motivated workers give 100% attention to their jobs
